Danny from The Delltones is back with a brand new Spectacular Live Show
Danny is currently busy writing songs with his five piece band for his next album and will be taking his Spectacular Live Show to stages across Australia in 2011. Danny is very excited and keen to get out on the road again performing some of his own songs along with some old favourites that have been a big part of his career. The show will take you on a musical ride from early influences that Danny grew up with and listened too, such as Elvis, The Doobie Brothers, Roy Orbison, The Eagles to music from his current album, 19 Longfield Street. This is a high energy show from beginning to end and will certainly guarantee a night to remember as we take you thru an era of great sounds and Powerful vocals.
Danny met Greg Mackay (Drums) and Jeannie Ashurst (Vocals) when they worked with him on his album in 2009 and from there on began to recruit the other members David Ashurst (Guitar), Greg Richards (Bass) and Allan Cameron (Guitar).Together with Danny these players combine a wealth of experience and showmanship to create a vibrant and dynamic show that is The Danny Mayers Band.
Danny’s musical career started in England, in the early sixties. In 1970 he arrived in Australia where he formed the Newcastle band, ‘Nevada’. The band soon gained a huge following in the Hunter region and resulted in the release of two singles through EMI, ‘That’s Rock and Roll’ and ‘Wild Night’. ‘That’s Rock and Roll’ reached number three on the local 2NX charts. Both singles were produced by Martin Benge, formally of Abbey Road.
By the 1980’s Danny was fronting Sydney band, ‘Slippery When Wet’. This twelve piece outfit was made up of some of the country’s finest musicians such as Clive Harrison on bass guitar, formally of ‘Bootleg Family Band’, Mark Punch on guitar – Renee Geyer Band, Steve Murphy also on guitar – Kim Hart Band, Jay Stewart on keyboards – Kim Hart Band, as well as Rick Price on vocals, guitar and base. While performing with the band, Danny was approached by Pee Wee Wilson from ‘The Delltones’ and subsequently joined the band in 1982.
The album 19 Longfield Street has been critically acclaimed not only here in Australia but also throughout Europe to the point where the first single from the album,’ The Drifter’ is now being played in 18 countries worldwide.
Jon Wolfe of Capitol News, quoted “THIS ALBUM ALLOWS DANNY TO STAND OUT WHERE HE BELONGS AND COULD LEAD HIM DOWN A WHOLE NEW CAREER PATH”.
